WHAT'S NEW FOR 2018

  • PHOTOS THROUGHOUT THE WEBSITE HAVE BEEN UPDATED WITH PHOTOS from 2017

  • exciting NEW THEMES AND FIELD TRIPS

  • OUR RATIO IS 2 screened adult STAFF TO every 20 CHILDREN; on field trips, the ratio is 2 screened adults to every 10 children. We increase supervision even more by adding responsible volunteer leaders to assist the adults.

COST

Base Registration: Each week is $135 per child.  For shorten weeks (due to a stat holiday) the cost will only be $110.

Pre-Camp & Post-Camp Care: You may add on extended care for drop-offs as early as 8:00AM and pick-ups as late as 5:30PM for an additional cost of $35 (or $28 for shorten weeks) per child per week. This is usually a time of free play.

Unfortunately, at this time there is no family-rate for multiple children in the same family.

*Families with siblings in Sunshine Corner Day Care qualify for free extended care to match the siblings' day care hours.  Please enter the name of the sibling in the registration form (last section) and then register for base registration for each week needed.  We will then verify with the day care director.

BASIC DETAILS

Who can come?  For kids entering grades 1 to 5.  Students entering grades 6 and 7 are welcome to join, but know that our program is aimed at a younger age and so older students might be asked to help with certain tasks.

When is it?  The day camp starts Tuesday, July 3, and will run for eight (8) weeks until Friday, August 24.  You can select the week/s for which you would like to register your child/ren.

What time?  We run from 9:00AM to 4:00PM with a drop-off and pick-up grace period of 15 minutes.  We also provide extended care, at an extra cost, starting as early as 8:00AM and ending as late as 5:30PM.

Where is it?  The day camp is held at the Vancouver Chinese Pentecostal Church at 215 East 18th Avenue, on the corner of Main St. and East 18th Ave. The day camp office is just next door at 235 East 18th Avenue.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WEEK LOOK LIKE?

A typical day will start off with free play until most kids have arrived.

We will then start with a morning on-site program before heading off-site in the afternoon.  We believe in a balance of indoor and outdoor activities!

Morning activities will include conversation circle, cooking, crafts, group games and fun themed activities.  Thursdays are generally our big field trip days.

So a typical week's afternoons will look like this:

  • MONDAY: Local park
  • TUESDAY: Swimming/Beach
  • WEDNESDAY: Library
  • THURSDAY: Field trip (all-day)
  • FRIDAY: Local water park

Each child must bring his/her own lunch and snacks.  An occasional afternoon treat might be provided.

We will also ask parents to pack bottled water, sunblock and a change of clothing as we might head outside at any moment to take advantage of the weather.

Most transportation will be via private buses.
