Refer to Our 2019 Summer Team page for Rex's bio.

Sandra Chan
Sandra is a retired elementary school teacher who brings 35 years of ‘children’ experience to the Kid City Executive Council. She also brings with her the on-going insights of a mother of three grown kids. During her ‘free time’, since retiring three and a half years ago, Sandra continues to have kids in mind and in her heart. She is a volunteer with Vancouver Urban Ministries (VUM), a non-profit organization working in Vancouver’s inner city schools to teach literacy skills to children with academic and emotional needs and with their families. On Sundays, her teaching continues as she serves her church by sharing Bible truths to a Christian Education class of young adults. Kid City is another opportunity for Sandra to support children and their families. She sees it as a great privilege to be able to serve in this way.

Ellen Chung
Ellen currently works part-time as an office administrative assistant for Vancouver Christian School (a K to 12 school) and very much enjoys her time living in Vancouver since moving here from Toronto with her family seven years ago. Her three children have grown up attending Kid City Day Camp when it first started in 2013 and now her oldest two, Hayley and Camille, have graduated on to become regular volunteers every year and, this year, Hayley is on staff. As a mother who has had first-hand experience with Kid City Day Camp, Ellen brings a love, passion and enthusiasm to maintaining high-quality care for our camp children. Her goal is for every child to not just want to come to Kid City, but to have "an experience" that will long be remembered. Ellen is thrilled to be on the Kid City team again this year!

Irene Yung
Irene is a full-time working mom of two who understands all too well the struggles of maintaining balance between work and running a household. As the Director of Operations of a busy Downtown Vancouver commercial real estate firm, Irene brings over ten years of experience in operations and management. She previously served as a director overseeing the operations of Sunshine Corner Daycare and was the Treasurer of Wesburn Football Club where she was recognized and awarded the President’s Award for her volunteer work above and beyond.  Currently, she serves as the Treasurer of the Parent Advisory Council at her children’s school and recently joined the staff of VCPC as the part-time bookkeeper. Irene is excited to be on the Kid City Executive Council with the goal of ensuring an experience all the children will remember and hearing them say “That was fun. I want to go back.”

Eden Chan
Eden, our Camp Coordinator last summer, joins the Executive Council in an advisory role this year while she completes her teaching qualifications at UBC. As a Teacher Candidate, much of Eden’s time is spent with children or learning effective ways to teach them. She also volunteers at her church as a Christian Education teacher. Eden enjoys working with kids because she loves their curiosity and bright imagination and she loves how kids have the ability to make anyone smile with their silliness and positive energy! She is more than happy to be able to contribute again to the success of Kid City by sharing her experience and expertise.
